Having such an advanced technology to be used to treat tumors with high accuracy and can deliver the treatment precisely. It seem like a new hope for patient who are carrying a critical disease for both cancerous or non-cancerous tumors for any part in the body such as prostate, lung, spine, liver, and the most critical part like brain.

This cyberknife technology will strike the tumor with high content of radiation with very high accuracy without involving other parts of the body. This advanced technology is the best option for patient that has inoperable or surgically complex tumor because cyberknife technology can be categorized as non-surgical option.

How does it work??

CyberKnife technology uses image guidance software to track and continually adjust the treatment for other patients. Generally, this technology is equipped with two other advanced technologies which are image guidance systems and multi joint robotic arms with six degrees of freedom (6DOF). These two supporting technologies will help the CyberKnife to track and verifies the tumor locations and for the robotic arm, it will help this system to be in the best and correct angle before it started to emerge the high radiation to the problematic area.

Conclusively, there are three uniqueness of this advanced technology. Firstly, it uses image guidance software to track the tumor. Secondly, CyberKnife technology does not need the patient to be rigidly set up to the head-frames that screwed to the skull purposely to reduce any movements. And lastly, it is totally different with other radiosurgery technology which focuses on the brain’s tumor only, but by using CyberKnife technology it can also  be used for other parts of body.

p/s: I used to know about this technology because my late brother in law had used this CyberKnife for his brain’s cancer.
