Speed Booster and Lower Data Use on Mobile Device- by Google

Google IT team has launched new technology to be integrated into Android-powered mobile devices especially for smartphones. The technology is purposely to reduce the data consumption and of course to increase the performance of Web for mobile device. The technology advancement created by Google are:

• New image compression formats
•   New video compression formats

Basically, Google IT team wants to provide the same quality and performance that Chrome give to the desktop to the mobile’s Chrome browser. All these goals can be achieved through the latest technology named Google’s WebP open-source image compression technology. By using this technology, it will speed up the usage of mobile browser because it can reduce 30% out of the normal size of the image.

For the video, Goole IT team has created VP9 video compression format purposely to be used in mobile device application. Through this advance technology, the size of the video will be reduced to 50%. However, the quality of the video will not be distracted even though the data bandwidth of the video has been reduced.
